Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor & Park is about a high school romance that reminds me of a modern time Romeo & Juliet because it speaks of forbidden love. You get both sides of their love story in this book and it really shows makes you remember how it feels to be a teenager in high school in a dramatically serious love with absolutely zero control over your own lives. The tone of the story is light hearted most of the time. Both characters used dry humor and sarcasm which added comedy to the book. In high school, Eleanor was portrayed more of as a loner, the outsider, she had an attitude to her, but could be sweet, while Park was just the guy that everyone got along with, but stayed to himself. The quiet one. Also, the book has diverse characters. Park is Asian, and I haven’t yet come across many books with Asian characters. One thing I found loveable about Eleanor was her wild, red, curly hair that refused to be tamed. Like her sometimes adventurous personality. …
